You've tried water-based ink before. You know how it ends.

The white that went thin and grey on a black tee.

The ink that dried in the screen halfway through the run.

The print that cracked across the chest the first time someone washed it.

It wasn't bad luck. And it wasn't you.

It wasn't water-based that let you down. It was the cheap kind.

High-solids acrylic (HSA) is a different thing entirely: dense, opaque, it stays open while you pull and flexes instead of cracking. It's what the trade prints with — those prints with the vibrancy of plastisol but the soft feel of water-based? Often, they're this.

Two tiers of water-based ink. You've been buying from the wrong one.

One's built down to an art-store shelf price. The other is what the trade runs — sold by the drum, out of reach for a small studio until now.

Pigmento is that tier — in pots small enough to buy.

What makes professional-grade ink different.

Why your old ink failed. Why Pigmento doesn't.

High-solids acrylic (HSA).

The class of ink the trade runs. Where cheap ink is mostly water, Pigmento is packed with solids — so a full, durable film stays on the shirt after the water's gone.

Loaded with pigment and solids.

Loaded with pigment and solids — so colour lays down dense and opaque, not thin and washed-out. Pigment is the expensive part, the first thing budget inks cut; Pigmento runs a high load, so colour comes off the press strong and vivid, before a single wash.

A true opaque white.

Covers black, navy and grey with full, solid opacity — and doubles as an underbase so top colours stay bright instead of sinking into the fabric. No more whites going grey on darks.

Extended open time.

Forty-five minutes of working time on the screen before it starts drying in. No frantic misting. No ruined runs.

Cures with heat — or none at all.

Cures with heat — heat press, flash or conveyor. Or add the Low-Cure Additive and it cures at room temperature, no heat needed — ideal for a home setup. Whatever you use, do a wash test to confirm your cure.

PVC-free, eco pigments.

No phthalates, a softer hand than plastisol, and the eco-compliance that brands increasingly demand from their printers.

Every Pigmento pot. Every colour. Every batch.

High Opacity. Vibrancy. Soft Feel.

We don't ask you to take our word for it —

Black Pigmento ink screen-printed on a white tee — intricate samurai linework with every hairline crisp and fully opaque
High Opacity
Green and white Pigmento ink on a purple tee — vivid graffiti character print with no fabric showing through
Vibrancy
White Pigmento ink on a black tee — droplet-pattern skull with full coverage and a soft hand-feel

Why Pigmento exists.

I've spent my entire life in the British screen-printing trade. I've supplied all ends of the market — from the factories printing for global sportswear brands, to a one-person art studio.

I've watched the same thing happen over and over. A small studio in Bristol, Sheffield or Glasgow rings up. They've bought hobby-grade ink. They print a full run — and it washes out, or sits thin and patchy. Nowhere near the solid, opaque finish their brand stands for. Meanwhile, the professional-grade ink I supply to the factories printing for global sportswear brands sits on pallets — sold by the drum, unavailable to anyone smaller than a global brand.

Pigmento exists to fix that — the same professional-grade ink the trade runs, in pots a one-person studio in Margate can actually buy. From a UK warehouse, shipped the same day.

The ink in the pot is MagnaPrint, made by MagnaColours in Barnsley since 1978. Pigmento is the consumer arm of SISS, the UK's largest screen-printing supplier — so the ink's here to stay, and so are we.

Questions printers ask.

Yes. Pigmento Opaque White is high-pigment-loaded, high-solids water-based ink — the professional tier the trade runs. On 100% cotton it covers black, navy and grey with full, solid opacity. On heavy poly blends, a second pass or a flash between may help.

Yes. Cure at 165°C (330°F) for around 1½ minutes — a heat press or flash dryer will do it, no conveyor needed. No heat source at all? The Pigmento Low-Cure additive lets your prints cure at room temperature instead. Either way, do a wash test to confirm your cure.

Yes. Stir the Pigmento Low-Cure additive into your ink (around 0.5–2% — worth a quick trial for your setup), print as normal, and your design cures at room temperature — no heat press, no dryer, no heat at all. Two things to plan for: once mixed, use the ink within about 4–5 hours, and at room temperature full wash-fastness takes around 48 hours to develop. It's the easiest way to print professional-grade ink from a kitchen table or a studio without a heat source.

Because those are hobby-grade or mid-tier inks. Pigmento is the professional tier — high-solids acrylic (HSA), the same formulation supplied to the factories printing for global sportswear brands. The difference isn't marketing. It's a tier change.

The commercial trade brand behind Pigmento has supplied the UK industry for 30 years — the market leader, trusted by the biggest print factories in the country, the ones printing for major global brands. The ink in the pot is MagnaPrint, made by MagnaColours in Barnsley since 1978 — high-solids acrylic of the tier those factories run by the drum. Pigmento is our venture to bring that same professional ink to smaller studios, in pot sizes a one-person studio can actually buy.

Yes, with the right approach. On 100% cotton it prints and cures cleanly. On poly-cotton blends a catalyst additive may be needed for full wash durability — drop us a line and we'll point you to the right one.

Stored properly — lid closed, cool, dark place — an open pot of Pigmento stays usable for 12+ months. If you print sporadically, the Retarder Gel extends working life on the screen and helps keep the pot itself in good condition.

Verifiable. PVC-free, REACH-compliant, Oeko-Tex certified, bluesign approved, APEO-free, GOTS certified. Made in England. We can supply documentation for every certification on request.
